Myotherapy

Myotherapy (muscle therapy) is concerned with the assessment of musculoskeletal injury and dysfunction, the application of various physical modalities to treat myofascial pain, and the rehabilitation of the soft tissue and underlying causes.  The aims of Myotherapy treatment are to restore or maintain normal muscular integrity, strength, flexibility, and decrease pain.

Services provided include:
  • Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy for pain in the neck, back, and muscles and joints of the limbs.
  • Headaches and migraines.
  • Pilates Programmes
  • Jaw pain, clicking and grinding of teeth.
  • Treatment of sports injuries and advice regarding training programmes.
  • Electrotherapy including ~ Ultrasound & TENS.
  • Dry needling acupuncture, acupressure and laser acupuncture.
  • Occupational Health consulting ~ Injury prevention treatment and rehabilitation programmes. Ergonomic advice and worksite assessment.
  • Flexibility Training.
  • Stress Management.
  • Lectures on neck and back injuries.
  • Soft tissue massage ~ myotherapy.
  • Orthoses ~ assessment for back, neck, knee, elbow, wrist braces and back cushions.
Myotherapists have completed a three year university programme in Victoria. Following detailed assessments of muscles and provide individualised treatment of myofascial trigger points. Treatment could also include dry needling of trigger points and exercise prescription.
